Use of multi variate spectral analysis for estimation of electro encephalogram changes

The multivariate spectral analysis method was used to study EEG changes in the reticular formation of adult cat midbrain under conditions of free behavior in response to galanthamine administration. The preparation was administered at doses causing marked behavior changes, but not accompanying autonomic-somatic disturbances. Results showed tha galanthine administration leads to a reliable change in bioelectric activity of the cat midbrain reticular formation. Frequency components of spectra were presented in order of the decrease in the contribution to the process of division of the group. The most significant contribution involved frequency components in the 24-25 fluctuations/s range (37%). This method is most effective during comparative evaluation of EEG which differ negligibly with respect to individual frequency components.
