The GOT [glutamic-oxalacetic transaminase] and GPT [glutamic-pyruvic transaminase] activities are higher in the mothers of bulls than are those recorded for their stable mates. Neither order nor stage of the lactation exercises influence these activities. In young fattening bulls a marked drop in the GOT level occurs during the 12th mo. of age, and there are significant differences between the groups of half-sibs having different fathers. The GOT to GPT ratio may be a more useful indicator than the values determined for individual enzymes.
