Vaso-dilating drugs and the large arteries in essential hypertension

Vaso-dilating drugs and the large arteries in essential hypertension

Artery 14(1): 1-27

Vasodilating drugs are commonly used in the treatment of hypertension (1). These antihypertensive agents are considered as acting on small arteries which are preferentially damaged in the hypertensive vascular disease. Recent studies have emphasized that the hemodynamic abnormalities in hypertension were not restricted to arterioles but involved also large arteries, resulting in a decrease in arterial compliance (2).
