Investigations showed that the intestinal bacteria of 3-yr-old carp (Cyprinus carpio L.), white amur (Ctenopharyngodon idella V.) and tench (Tinca tinca L.) synthesize pyridoxine. Biotin (74%), pantothenic acid (41%), thiamin (52%) and nicotinic acid (59%) were synthesized by the bacteria strains investigated. The intestinal bacteria cultivated on watery Asai medium showed more intense vitamin synthesis than those cultivated on agarized Chapek's medium. Pyridoxine and biotin were distributed both in bacterial biomass and in the medium under cultivation, other vitamins showing higher accumulations in bacterial biomass. The highest B group vitamin amounts were: biotin (5.33 .mu.g/g)-Bacillus glutinosus; pantothenic and nicotinic acids (208 and 310.27), pyridoxine (43.8)-Pseudomonas fluorescens; thiamin (26.57)-in the biomass of P. denitrificans. The highest percentage ratio between the vitamins in bacterial biomass and their concentration in the intestinal content of fish was determined with respect to biotin-81.85% (amur) and 64% (tench).sbd.during the intense nutrition period.
