Yersinia enterocolitica infection in swine importance in terms of differential diagnosis

An established cross-reaction between Y. enterocolitica serotype 0:9 and Brucella is reported in a herd of pigs for breeding. Conclusions with relevance to Y. enterocolitica infections were drawn from epizootiological tests and experimental infection of swine. Serotypes 0:9 and 0:6 of Y. enterocolitica were positively used for experimental production of antibody, which reacted positively with Brucella antigen Dessau in heat tests and in slow agglutination and complement-fixation tests.
