A case of intraperitoneal hemorrhage from rupture of an uterine vessel on a large leiomyoma

A women aged 51 drank with her friends till midnight. In the next morning, she was found dead in bed. At autopsy, the abdomen contained about 2,200 ml of clotted and unclotted blood. A large leiomyoma of uterus with formation of large cysts was revealed in the lower abdominal cavity, and a coronary vessel on the surface of the tumor was teared. According to her friends, she was likely to fall down under the influence of drink. We considered that a bruise on the abdomen was responsible for the onset of bleeding.
