A case of lead poisoning in a child presenting rickets and pica a critical review of the literature

A case of lead poisoning in a child presenting rickets and pica a critical review of the literature

Revue Medicale de Bruxelles Nouvelle Serie 9(7-8): 393-397

It seems that behaviors such as pica or geophagia interfere in several biochemical pathways, and can be an important factor in the non-amelioration, and even the evolution of rickets, in spite of a correct vitaminotherapy. Hence, it can be interesting in cases of more or less important rickets which do not respond correctly to the treatment, to research by anamnesis and biochemical investigations a pica and/or a lead poisoning.
