A relation between the initial level of the heat resistance of hydra oligactis of the same genotype and its increase caused by a rise in environmental temperature

On a sample of genetically uniform individuals of Hydra oligactis Pall. a study was made of the relation between the initial level of the heat resistance and its increase caused by a rise in environmental temperature. Both initial and reactive levels were formed due to a single factor, the thermal one. A negative correlation was found between the initial level and its increase. The same thermal effect (28.degree. C) was perceived by individuals with different initial level of heat resistance as a thermal shift of different range. A relation between the increase in environmental temperature and a corresponding increase in the heat resistance can be graphically described by a parabola of the 2nd degree.
