A study of genetic divergence of quantitative characters in upland cotton gossypium hirsutum l



Scientia Agricultura Sinica 21(4): 26-32



Cluster analysis as well as principal component analysis were performed for 15 quantitative characters of 53 upland cotton genotypes. The contribution of first six principal components to total variation of population studied reached over 87.9 percent. The fifty three genotypes were grouped into seven clusters by hierarchical clustering method. There was no direct connection between geographical distribution and (D2) of genotypes. Pedigree analysis proved that genetic divergence of genotypes could be truely revealed by distance of genotypes.
