Additional genes for resistance to bacterial leaf blight caused by xanthomonas campestris pv. oryzae ishiyama dye in rice cultivar kogyoku

Inheritance of resistance to bacterial leaf blight of rice caused by Xanthomonas campestris pv. oryzae (Ishiyama) Dye in an international differential rice cultivar Kogyoku was studied. This cultivar was crossed to a susceptible cultivar Taichung Native 1. The F1, F2 and F3 populations were tested against two pathotypes, IXO 3 and IXO 10, from north western India. It is concluded that two independently inherited dominant genes are responsible for resistance of Kogyoku to each of the two pathotypes. These genes are different from already designated genes Xa1, Xa3 and Xa12 present in Kogyoku.
