An investigation on the effects of different blister packaging materials on the stability of vitamin c tablets

It is known that packaging technique and the structure of packaging material can greatly be effective on the stability of drugs. Especially, the permeability of plastic packaging materials have an important role on the stability of preparations. In order to investigate the effects of environmental factors such as temperature and humidity of storage medium on vitamin C, the formulation of tablets was prepared, and then physical and chemical stabilities of these tablets were observed for 12 months under 5 different temperature and humidity conditions of storage medium in the two different types of blister packaging materials. Consequently, obvious changes on the physico-pharmaceutical properties of tablets and active substance content were observed, depending on the humidity, the temperature of storage medium and the structure of blister packaging material.
