In the present study the influence of 9 suitable hosts found during the first part of these examinations, on the quality of Trichogramma semblidis (Auriv.), an egg parasite of both grape vine moth species, Eupoecilia ambiguella Hb. and Lobesia botrana Schiff., was examined. There were dramatic host-specific differences as to the developing period and the length of the bodies, longevity and parasitization ability. The mean length varied between 0.55 mm for the parasites emerging from Anthophila fabriciana (L.) and 0.78 mm obtained from Aglais urticae L. The lowest longevity of about 8 days only was achieved on A. fabriciana, Notocelia uddmanniana L. and Argyroploce lacunana Schiff., while the Trichogramma females reared on A. urticae lived 12.5 days on the average. The parasitization ability varied in the range of more than 100%. Females obtained from Haritala ruralis Sc., Hypaena proboscidalis L. and Mamestra brassicae (L.) parasitized more than twice as many eggs of E. ambiguella (more than 45 eggs during the first 4 days of their life) as those hatching from A. fabriciana and N. uddmanniana. A strong linear relationship exists between some of the quality parameters e.g. the size and the parasitization ability (rank correlation coefficient = 0.90).
