Body weight gains dairy performance and fertility of red and white cows and red and white x x holstein friesian red and white variety crosses

Investigations were conducted in the State Pedigree Breeding Centre, Glogowek [Poland] on 262 Red-and-White (nczb) and 89 nczb x hf cows of crossbred cows, 39 had 25% hf genes and 50-50% hf genes. During rearing, crossbreds with 50% hf genes had significantly higher live weight and higher daily weight gains than cows at the same age the two other groups. However, ten days before first calving as well as during first lactation, the highest live weight and the smallest dynamics of its changes were observed in heifers of 25% hf genes. Differences in milk and fat yields and of fat corrected milk (FCM) between nczb heifers both and groups of crossbreds, were not significant. The worst fertility indicators (intercalving period, service period and number of inseminations per second pregnancy) were observed in crossbred-heifers of 25% hf genes.
