Two new diarylheptanoids, meso-3,5-diacetoxy-1,7-bis(4-hydroxy-3-methoxphenyl)heptane (3a) and 3,5-diacetoxy-1-(4-hydroxy-3,5-dimethoxyphenyl)-7-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyPhenyl)heptane (4a) were isolated from the rhizomes of ginger (Zingiber officinale ROSCOE), together with dehydroxytetrahydrocurcumin (gingerenone A, 1) and hexahydrocurcumin (2). Their structures were elucidated on the basis of chemical and spectroscopic evidence.
