Coryne trichophora new combination and the implications of its conidiomatal anatomy

Coryne trichophora new combination and the implications of its conidiomatal anatomy

Studies in Mycology (31): 157-164

The new combination Coryne trichophora (A. L. Smith) Seifert is proposed. A description and illustration of this anamorph and its teleomorph, an as yet unnamed species of Ascocoryne, are provided. The delimitation of the anamorph genus Coryne is discussed. Anatomical similarities between C. trichophora and its teleomorph indicate that the conidiomata and ascomata have homologous tissues, and this leads to some speculations on evolutionary trends in Coryne. The delimitation of the anamorph genus Coryne is briefly discussed.
