Neobalanocarpus heimii a durable timber of Peninsular Malaysia was found to contain hot-water and methanol extractives after 12 h. of extraction. Impregnation of these extractives into rubberwood conferred a certain degree of resistance to the fungus Coriolus versicolor, while chengal wood blocks extracted with water or methanol retained its resistance to the same fungus.
