The stools of 1455 elementary school children from the Cerrahpasa, Kumkapi, Kikiikas, Eyup and Sisli districts of Istanbul were examined parasitologically. Intestinal parasites were detected in 472 (32.4%) of the 1455 children, the prevalence of these parasites is as follows: 111 (7,6%), Ascaris lumbricoides 47 (3.2%) Trichuris trichiura, 216 (14,8%) Giardia intestinals and 47 (3.2%) Entamoeba coli. When compared with the results of the examinations, which were made 15 and 30 years age in the same districts, it is concluded that the dissemination of feces due to insufficient sanitation has decreased, while that cased by deficient cleaning after defecation remains almost thje same.
