Effect of calmodulin inhibitors on the function of potential dependent calcium ion channels in the plasmalemma of nitellopsis obtusa

Effect of calmodulin inhibitors on the function of potential dependent calcium ion channels in the plasmalemma of nitellopsis obtusa

Fiziologiya Rastenii 35(4): 641-647

The effects of calmodulin inhibitors (chlorpromazine and trifluoroperazine) and of the blocking of Ca2+-channels with nifedipine, nicardipine, and D600 on calcium influx were studied by a potential clamp technique on the plasmalemma of perfused Nitellopsis obtusa cells. The results indicated that the calmodulin inhibitors affected two reciprocal systems: Ca2+-channels and H+-ATPase. That gave evidence for the insertion of calmodulin or a calmodulin-like protein into a controlling center of the two systems. Studies of the blocking agents of Ca2+-channels revealed that they had not only common features in their action.sbd.current amplitude reduction, but apparently they had different affinity to various populations of Ca2+-channels of the plasmalemma.
