Effect of nitrogen levels and irrigation frequencies on grain yield straw yield and harvest index of triticale variety jaunillo 97

An experiment to evaluate the effect of nitrogen levels and irrigation frequencies on yield of triticale was conducted at the Agronomic Research Area, Faculty of Agriculture, Gomal University, Dera Ismail Khan [Pakistan] during crop season 1986-87. It was laid out according to Split Plot Design with four replications with a net plot size of 6 m2. Various levels of nitrogen were found to have significant effect on grain yield, straw yield and harvest index. Straw yield, and harvest index showed no significant response to the applied irrigation frequencies but grain yield was affected significantly. Maximum grain yield was recorded in treatment where 175 kg nitrogen per hectare and when four irrigations were applied.
