Effect of planting pattern on pigeonpea cajanus cajan and groundnut arachis hypogaea intercropping systems in dryland

An experiment conducted during the rainy seasons of 1986-88 at Ranchi (India) revealed that the highest pigeonpea [Cajanus cajan (L.) Millsp.] equivalent was recorded by pigeonpea (100 cm) + 3 rows of groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L.) and by pigeonpea (50/150 cm) + 5 rows of groundnut intercropping systems. These 2 systems also gave higher land-equivalent and competitive ratios.
