Effect of seed treatment on seed mycoflora germination plant stand and vigor of gram cicer arietinum l

Nine seed dressing fungicides namely Agrosan G.N., Bavistin, Brassicol, Captan, Dithane M-45, Jkstein, Topsion, Thiram and Vitavax, were used to ascertain the effect of gram seed treatment upon seed mycoflora, germination, plant stand and seedling vigour. Of all the fungicides evaluated, Captan and Thiram completely eliminated mycoflora associated with gram seed. In general, fungicide treated seeds gave significantly lesser fungal counts than that of untreated control. Thiram followed by Dithane M-45 and Jkstein proved highly effective not only in improving seed germination but also plant stand, plant height, number of leaves and root length.
