Abstract
The effectiveness of the natural reproduction of A. stellatus was studied as a function of conditions formed in 1985-1987. Data were presented on the level of downstream migration, age and sex composition, and weight of larvae in the river bed, as well as on the horizontal and vertical distribution of the larvae. Recommendations were made for maintaining the rate of the fish reproduction at the present level. The effectiveness of the reproduction of the species is a function of a complex of factors. Flow volume in the period of the summer low water is the determining factor.
