Efficient chemical control of soil borne diseases of turf grasses ii. brown patch and dollar spot on bentgrass turf

This study was conducted to elucidate low toxic chemicals which could efficiently control the two serious diseases on bentgrass greens in golf courses. The results of field experiments are summarized as follows: Brown patch (pathogen: Rhizoctonia solani AG-2-2 (III B)); The chemicals more effective than TPN-TMTD mixture were benomyl, copper-oxinate, diclomezine, flutoranil, iprodione, mepronil, polyoxin-D, thiophanate-methyl and validamycin A. Propiconazole enhanced the effects of flutoranil and mepronil. Dollar spot (pathogen: Sclerotinia homoeocarpa): Fenarimol, furconazole-cis, guazatine, microbutanil, thiophanate-methyl and mixtures of flutoranil-propiconazole, iprodione-grazatine and mepronil-propiconazole were effective, by single application after the development of the symptom. Based on the results obtained so far, fungicides to be used were discussed for efficient control of six important diseases on zoysia grass and bentgrass turfs.
