Energy consumption efficiency in the milk production part i. cumulative energy consumption in the milk production by state farms of the wielkopolska region poland

Considerations concerning the energy consumption in the milk production are presented in the paper. Two dairy cow rearing systems are applied in the state sector of agriculture, in Poland, viz.: theoretical and farm system. Moreover, considerable differences in the milk production kind occur in each cow rearing system. The aim of the work was to analyze the efficiency of energy consumption in particular cow rearing systems taking into consideration the milk production level. The analysis was performed by means of calculation of cumulative energy consumption. The investigations have proved that the traditional cow rearing system is characterized by lower concentration of animals and higher average milk production, but at a higher labour consumption level. Energy expenditures, their type, structure and the energy consumption efficiency level have been determined in the work. 3.1. gross energy units in the traditional and 3.46 ones in the farm system are used for production of 1 energy unit in milk. The net energy expenditures amounted to 2.11 and 2.44, respectively. The investigations were carried out in state agricultural enterprises of the Wielkopolska region in the period 1978-1983.
