Evaluation of fungicides on the control of fig rust cerotelium fici

Two experiments were carried out in Sorocaba-SP, Brazil, in 1988/89 and 1989/990, in order to evaluate the efficiency of some fungicides applied by spraying and in the soil, to control rust of fig trees cultivar Roxo de Valinhos. In the first cycle commercial products in the following dosages e.p/1001 water were applied: mancozeb PM (200g), copper sulphate PM (500g), triforine EC (200cc), diniconazole PM (40g); in the soil, treatments per plant were: triadimenol GR 20/g., triadimenol GR 30g; triadimenol PM (100g), tebuconazole EC (100cc). In the second cycle the same treatments were repeated. Randomized blocks were used as statistical design, with nine treatments and five replications, with four plants per plot. Spraying were performed every 15 days. Soil was treated only once in the first cycle and twice in the second cycle. Evaluation was made weekly, considering infection level and fruit production. The results obtained showed that the products with a base of mancozeb PM, triforine EC, diniconazole PM, triadimenol PM and tebuconazole EC were the most efficient on the control of fig rust. Cooper products should be used with caution for the phytotoxicity problems they cause.
