Abstract
The features of flowering and fruit bearing were studies in 40 Berberis species. Abundant and good flowering and fruit bearing were observed in 20 forms and species. Abundant fruit bearing is characteristic of species from areas with temperate climate. Species from southeastern Asia and South America bloom but do not bear fruits. Apparently this fact can be explained by specific soil and climate conditions of Apsheron, as well as by the biological features of the species. Recommendations were made for using the majority of the species as decorative plants for landscaping in Apsheron.
