Feeding of hares lepus europaeus pallas and rabbits oryctolagus cuniculus l. with fresh and dried rape varieties liragruen 0 and ceres 00

Bayerisches Landwirtschaftliches Jahrbuch 66(6): 729-748

The feed intake was tested through 72 days with 30 hares and 30 domestic rabbits. Five different group were fed with complete feed of rabbits (I), dried rape sort Liragrun (II), dried rape sort Ceres (III), fresh rape sort Ceres (IV) and fresh rape sort Ceres with byfeed straw (V). The dry matter intake of the rabbits in the groups I, II, III, IV and V came up to 49.2, 45.3, 47.2, 38.0 and 38.2 g/day and kg LW. In the group I, II, III, IV and V hares came up to 49.3, 50.3, 48.6, 39.2 and 40.9 g/DM intake per day and kg LW. The levels of nitrate intake of the rabbits were 243.5 to 613.8 mg/kg LW respectively 251.0 to 632.0 mg/kg LW in hares. The levels of the intake of the glucosinolates in rabbits respectively hares came up to 24.1 and 649.4 respectively 24.8 to 695.3 .mu.mol per day and kg LW. Only the rabbits showed an increase of the live weights. The hares showed mainly constant live weights in the control group too. Histological and haematological examinations didn't show any relation between intake of rape (double low) and mortality in hares.
