Flavonoids of the epigeal part of potentilla areata

Flavonoids of the epigeal part of potentilla areata

Izvestiya Akademii Nauk Kazakhskoi SSR Seriya Biologicheskaya (3): 81-84

The purpose of the study was to determine the content of flavonoids in the leaves and other epigeal organs of P. areata. A chromatographic study revealed 5 compounds which were labeled C-1, C-2, C-3, C-4, and C-5. The structure of these compounds (C-1, C-2 and C-3 were glycosidic and C-4 and C-5 were aglycones in nature) was studied by means of UV-spectroscopy. C-1 was found to be a quercetin-3-glycoside, C-2 -- quercetin-3-arabinoside, and C-3 -- kaempferol-3-glycoside. The above flavonoids from P. areata were isolated for the first time.
