In this paper 87 temperature sensitive, kasugamycin resistant mutants were isolated with treatment of 250 .mu.g/ml of NTG. By using 2-D gel electrophoresis analysis of ribosomal proteins, 10% of these mutants had alteration of ribosomal proteins including S3, S7, S8, S11, S13, BL2, BL6, BL7. Genetic mapping of ribosomal protein S13 and BL18 mutations showed that S13 gene was located in main ribosomal protein gene cluster near origin of DNA replication and BL18 gene was highly linked to pyrD gene, near 36.5 min. No obvious effects on RNA and protein synthesis in vivo and one plaque formation efficiency of bacteriophage .vphi.29 in BL 18 protein mutant. It is possible that both ribosomal protein BL18 gene and S16 gene is in one cotranscriptional unit.
