Genetic and phenotypic correlations of fattening and growth traits in station raised boars with their fertilizing capacity and litter performance of their sisters

Fattening and growth traits of young boars raised at central stations were genetically and phenotypically correlated with semen quality and sexual behaviour at the dummy as well as with fertilizing capacity of their sires and reproductive performances of their sisters. The results show that there are hardly any significant correlations between fattening and growth traits of young boars, their semen parameters and behaviour at the dummy, fertilizing capacity of their sires and reproductive performances of their sisters. As a tendency it was observed that in heavier young boars semen quality is better. Studies into semen quality parameters in young boars did not allow reliable conclusions on fertilizing capacity of their sires and reproductive performances fo sisters.
