One of the possible places where adult mosquitoes can hibernate are cellars. Due to the ecological conditions the cellars in town Osijek were divided in three catagories. In catagory "A" are cellars in the old building which are dept, underground, cold and humid and the hibernating mosquitoes are very numerous, on the average of 581 individuals per m2 (somewhere 4000 ind./m2), but only Culex pipiens molestus could be find. "B" category made shallow and humid cellars of newly private houses in which hibernate the C. pipiens, Anopheles maculipennis and Culiseta annulata on the average of 52 ind./m2. In cellars "C" category (dry) mosquitoes hibernate on the average of three ind./m2, only.
