Growth and impact of N. punctiformae and E. coli were estimated in 25% dilution of effluent from polyfibre industry with domestic sewage (1:3). The bacterium declined with the increase in algal population and decreased nutrient level and BOD load in the waste at the end of 21 days. The DO production was more in the flask with alga alone than in association with E. coli. The alga was found to be efficient in treating the polyfibre waste.
