Influence of salinity on the presence of barbels barbus callensis valenciennes 1842 pisces cyprinidae in lake ichkeul northern tunisia

Bulletin de l'Institut National Scientifique et Technique d'Oceanographie et de Peche de Salammbo 13: 89-94

The presence of Barbels in the Ichkeul lake is conditioned by water salinity. These fishes remain in the lake as long as salinity does not reach 20.permill.; beyond this value (generally in summer), they swim back to the streams which flow into the lake.
