Monosomic analysis of genes for stem rust resistance in common wheat variety rulofen as chinese differential host of puccinia graminis f sp tritici

Monosomic analysis of resistance to stem rust, races 21C3, 34 and 34C2 was carried out in common wheat variety Rulofen as Chinese differential host of Puccinia graminis f. sp. tritici. The seedings of F2 progenies of monosomic and disomic F1 plants of Rulofen crossed with 21 monosomic lines of Chinese Spring were tested. The seedlings of F2 progenies of Rulofen crossed with the known Sr single gene Lines were also inoculated to establish the identity of the resistant gene(s) in Rulofen. The results show that Rulofen carries two independent and dominant genes, a gene Sr6 on chromosome 2D and another gene Sr 30 on chromosome 5D. Gene Sr6 controls IT;-;1+ or;1X+ -X- to races 21C3, 34 and 34C2, while gene Sr30 governs IT 2=. Genes Sr6 and Sr30 involved in Rulofen have further differential ability to the population of race 34 in China.
