Morphometry of the structural changes in the eye of hynobius keyserlingii caudata hynobiidae in ontogenesis

Zoologicheskii Zhurnal 67(9): 1349-1356

Data are reported on the eye structure and its changing in the ontogenesis of Hynobius keyserlingii. The eye of an adult individual has spherical shape, rather large and round lens, well differentiated double rod-and-cone retina. During the ontogenesis the eye shifts from the lateral position in larvae to dorsal and frontal position in adults, thereby increasing binocular zone of the vision field. Thickening of the retina is noted in the process of the development, changing of the thickness of its separate layers are analysed. The reduction in size of the ganlial cells has been revealed in the process of ontogenesis.
