A study was carried out in Villaflores and Villacorzo counties of the State of Chiapas, Mexico, aimed at the identification of the insects which attack the corn stored in warehouses. Ninety six samplings were carried out through which two orders, nine families and 17 species were found causing damage in the grain. Sitophilus zeamais Motsch was identified as the main pest. This is the first report of Xylobiops parilis Lesne damaging stored corn. [The following species are discussed: Rhyzopertha dominica, Pharaxonotha kirschii, Cryptolestes ferrugineus, Ahasverus advena, Cathartus cuadricollis, Oryzaephilus surinamensis, Carphophilus pilosellus, Carpophilus mutilatus, C. corticinus, Typhaea stercorea, Tribolium castaneum, Sitotroga cerealella, Ephestia cautella, Plodia interpunctella, Corcyra cephalonica].
