Abstract
Five lactating mountain artillary (MA) mares in each of the 4 groups, i.e., T1, T2, T3 and T4 fed 0, 1, 2 and 4.1 kg concentrate mixture alongwith ad libitum feeding of green maize-cow pea mixture (3:1) respectively were used in the experiment. The efficiency of feed nutrients utilization for the production of milk nutrients decreased with the increase in the level of nutrients intake, because milk production potential of MA mares was limited to less than 5 kg daily. There was no significant effect of diets on milk composition. Balances of energy, nitrogen, and phosphorus increased while that of calcium decreased with the increased level of concentrate feeding.
