In Antrrhinum majus the morphogenesis of the leaves is influenced by the photoperiod. When this is changed during development, the time-depending processes growth rate, time distance between initiation of leaves and realisation of flowering after induction react immediately by adjustment to the new conditions. In morphogenesis, measured at the end of development as length/width-index and during growth as developmental coefficient, the influence is only observed in leaves which pass a critical stage in their development after the change of the photoperiod. This determination of morphogenesis must occur very early during the development of the leaf, at the same time or shortly after initiation of the leaf anlage at the vegetation point. The discussion leads to problems of storage and use of non genetical informations in interaction with genetical informations during developmental processes.
