Potency of certain molluscicide herbicide binary mixtures against schistosomiasis snail vectors biomphalaria alexandrina and bulinus truncatus in nile water

The combined effects of certain binary mixtures of molluscicides and herbicides against Schistosomiasis snail vectors, B. alexandrina and B. truncatus in Nile water were studied. Some mixtures at certain ratios caused various degrees of synergism or additive effects with both snail species. By using the recommended concentrations of tested herbicides and molluscicides, data indicate the great and serious antagonism on Frescon molluscicidal activity due to the addition of tested herbicides on both tested snail species tested. On the other hand, slight antagonism occurred on CuSO4 and and Niclosamide molluscicides when mixed with the tested herbicides; 2,4,-D, Diuron and Gramonol. While Gramonol-Niclosamide mixture at ratio 1/2:1 of the recommended concentration caused a complete mortality (100%) on bth B. alexandrina and B. truncatus. Also, Gramonol-Niclosamide mixture at ratio 1:1 of the recommended concentration caused a complete mortality (100%) on B. truncatus snails only.
