Prediction of risk and performance in crop production in the gatton area application of long term climatic data from the csiro qac weather station at lawes queensland australia

Australia Commonwealth Scientific & Industrial Research Organization Division of Tropical Crops & Pastures Tropical Agronomy Technical Memorandum (64): I, 1-30

The Queensland Agricultural College, Lawes, which is located at the hub of a large area of irrigated horticulture in the Gatton area, has generated a record of rainfall going back to August 1, 1897 and other weather variables for shorter periods. This publication presents an in-depth study of these records to provide farmers, researchers and students with an indication of crop production risk and the maximum potential yield, especially in relation to water supply at different times of the year. It will assist them to plan sowing time to maximize the benefit from the use of irrigation water which is becoming increasingly scarce and expensive.
