Rate of embryonal development and heat resistance of asellus aquaticus l

Rate of embryonal development and heat resistance of asellus aquaticus l

Izvestiya Akademii Nauk SSSR Seriya Biologicheskaya (2): 314-317

The heritability of two characters, the rate of embryonal development and larvae heat resistance, have been studied for two generations in the offspring in single A. aquaticus parental pair. The correlation coefficient for the first character equals 0.47, for the second one, 0.74. A negative correlation between these characters was observed in both generations. Hence, selection for heat resistance leads to selection of individuals with lower progency development rate.
