Residual direct and cumulative effect of phosphatic fertilizers on inorganic phosphorus fractions in soils after finger millet eleusine coracana maize zea mays cropping sequence

A field experiment was conducted with a Typic Ustochrept soil at Coimbatore [India] to study the effect of phosphatic fertilizers on inorganic phosphorus fractions. Application of P sources (single superphosphate, rock phosphate, rock phosphate + single superphosphate, rock phosphate + phosphobacterium and diammonium phosphate) at 3 levels (13, 26 and 39 kg P/ha) significantly increased the status of inorganic P fractions (saloid P, aluminium P, iron P, reductant-soluble P and calcium P) when compared with the control. Diammonium phosphate and single superphosphate @ 39 kg P/ha increased the build-up of saloid P and aluminium P compared with rock phosphate and its combinations. There was no significant difference among the P sources and levels with the status of iron P and reductant-soluble P. Rock phosphate and its combinations (rock phosphate + single superphosphate and rock phosphate + phosphobacterium) accounted for higher calcium P in relation to diammonium phosphate and single superphosphate.
