Species complexes distinguished on the basis of a taxocene analysis of ostracods of the south atlantic

Biologiya Morya (Vladivostok) (2): 90-94

A comparison was made of the theoretically expected simultaneous occurrence of different species and the practically observed one. The comparison allowed the authors to distinguish freely organized complexes of species on the basis of a taxocene analysis of ostracods of the South Atlantic. 34 ostracod species were divided into two groups from different biotopes within the layer of 0-500 m. The cold-water complex was represented by the species showing high abundance and biomass. The warm-water complex included 5 species common for the studied region but revealing a lower abundance and biomass than other tropical representatives of warm-water ostracods.
