Structure of aesthetascs in grass shrimp pandalus latirostris decapoda pandalidae

Cuticle hairs-aesthetascs of P. latirostris are arranged in transverse rows on the ventral side of the outer flagellum of antennule. They have segment structure and fine villus at the distal end. Every hair is innervated by 110-120 bipolar sensory cells. Neuronal bodies are at the basement of the hairs, forming fusiform ganglia. Steming from cells dendrites penetrate into the lumen of the hair branching and filling its canal. Cuticle hairs of P. latirostris are similar to specialized chemosensitive hairs-aesthetasks of other crustaceans by its external and internal structure.
