Study of the reaginic response originated by trichinella spiralis and trichinella pseudospiralis after antihelmintic treatment of muscle larvae with mebendazole

In this work we have studied by the PCA (Passive cutaneous anaphylaxis) technique the reaginic response originated by T. spiralis and T. pseudospiralis after the infection and the subsequent anthelmintic treatment of muscle larvae with mebendazole and tried of elucidate the influence of a) the parasite strain, b) the infective dose, c) the strain of mice used and d) the sex of the host. During the infection the alergenic antigens of T. spiralis show different responses; however, after the anthelmintic treatment with mebendazole, the results are similar in both Trichinella strains. This demonstrated the existence during the infection of differences between the IgE responses induced by T. spiralis y T. pseudospiralis against the allergenic antigens presented during the infection, which suggest the presence of different allergenic antigens in both strains of Trichinella. However, when the structural or somatic antigens are freed by the anthelmintic treatment, they are able to increase the IgE, responses in T. pseudospiralis to values similar to those obtained with T. spiralis. Finally, the values obtained with both Trichinella strains demonstrate that the IgE response is not dependent of the infective dose or the sex of the host and is similar in the different strains of mice tested.
