The analysis of fitness of the ash dump near the thermal power plant in strakonice from agricultural point of view

Ashes from the thermal power-plant in Strakonice [Czechoslovakia] could be biologically and technically recultivated and they are possible to be agronomically utilized. There is especially arsen as a very important problem concerning ashes. We must prevent it to enter the plants by arrangements that must be taken into consideration by designer of biological recultivation. We introduce them in our study. The permanent and rich supply of organic matter must be the basement of biological recultivation with an optimal ratio C:N and with the tendency of easy decomposition. The high level of mobile phosphorus must be supplied by the humidification energy. Fulvoacids as the products of humidification do not increase the mobility of heavy metals. When we include "poineer" plants (clover, clover-grasses) into soil-improving crop rotation it will be important to decide about their feeding after deep analytcal examination. That is why they have the highest ability of all crops to absorb heavy metals from a site by their roots (PETRIKOVA 1988). We must prefer cereals, legumes, root crops as those plants that hae the lowest ability to absorb heavy metals after a change to common crop rotation.
