Abstract
The genetic study was carried out on phenotype and gene frequencies of transferrin in 303 Japanese populations living in Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture (Japan), usign isoelectric focusing electrophoresis with polyacrylamide gel. In the present analysis, three common phenotypes, C1, C1C2 and C2, and three kinds of variants were observed. The gene frequencies obtained were TfC1 = 0.761, TfC2 = 0.229, TfD = 0.007 and TfB = 0.003, respectively.
