The effect of planting dates on flowering and yield of three sweet pepper cultivars in unheated plastic houses

An experiment was conducted in unheated plastic houses at the Agricultural and water Resources Research Center, Baghdad during the seasons of 1984/1985 and 1985/1986 in which three pepper cultivars (Bruinsma, California and Yolo wonder) and three planting dates (Sept. 6, Sept. 21 and Oct. 6) were studied. 1 - Both of flower buds and flower numbers/plant were significantly increased after 100 day from planting date for Yolo wonder cultivar in the first season, while California wonder cultivar was increased in the same above characteristics in the second season, with no significant differences between cultivars were observed. However, the first plant date was significantly superior over the rest planting dates in the studied characteristics. 2 - No significant differents were found between the three cultivars in the early yield. First planting date was significantly increased the early yield compared to the other dates. Results concerning the yield for both cultivars and for the total yield in 1984/1985 season.
