Mitteilungen aus dem Hamburgischen Zoologischen Museum und Institut 88: 221-226
A developmental series 4.6-13.0 mm of larvae of the genus Symbolophorus from the tropical NE-Atlantic differs in pigmentation from existing descritpions for two other Atlantic congeners. Morphology and pigmentation are described. The combination of some fin-ray meristics together with distribution data of all Ataltic congeners allows assignation to Symbolophorus kreffti can be esaily distinguished from the four congeners described so far, by the presence of melanophores on the caudal peduncle.
