Ten morphologically different F6 lines obtained in consequence of crossing Triticum aestivum (cv Alfa) with Triticum durum (Moroccan population of Morocco No. 8) were subjected to detailed measurements in 1988. The following traits were grain weight, protein content (in%- in) grain. A rather considerable differentiation of the lines investigated with regard to the level of the traits analyzed has been proved, most traits showing higher share of protein in grain and mostly high weight of grains per ear than the parent cv. Alfa (T. aestivum). No significant correlation between the per cent of protein in grain and the weight of grains per ear (r = -0.163) and the weight of 1000 grains (r = 0.122) has been proved. The investigation results obtained allow to conclude that basing on the simultaneous selection performed in early generations of interspecies hybrids for the high grain weight per ear and 1000 grain weight as well as the high protein per cent in grain, lines of good quality and high yielding potential can be obtained.
